Prayer for Unity

unityprayer

Sometimes, the best thing we can do is pray about something! Make this simple prayer ritual a regular part of your family’s prayer life, and we can promise you, it will work wonders to increase the unity and peace in your family and in the wider community.

Reader 1|Corinthians 1 12:12-13

For just as the body is one and has many members and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptised into one body… and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

The word of the Lord.

All: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Leader: Lord, we offer you this symbol of unity as we pray…

All: Eternal Father, we praise your for sending your Son to be one of us and to save us. Look upon your people with mercy, for we are divided in so many ways, and give us the spirit of Jesus to make us one in love. We ask this gift, loving father, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Walk4One: Sam’s Story

In 2008, Sam Clear (a native Tasmanian) completed a 15,500 km pilgrimage around the world on foot, crossing 20 countries and involving many scary moments! The walk was a means to mobilise an army to pray particularly for Christian unity. Sam’s walk is finished, but the mission to pray for unity continues and around the world, people stop at 4:01 to pray for unity.

This prayer ritual featured in the July 2012 edition of the CathFamily e-Magazine. For more, check out:
